Who are we

Located in Oeiras, one of the central areas between Lisboa and Cascais, the Oeiras International School compromise on the development of their students either in an intellectual and personal matter as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School.

Offering a variety of learning experiences within a supportive and challenging environment, the mission of the school is to promote a respectful community of independent and passionate lifelong learners who must be aware of their responsibilities and roles in an ever-changing world.

Known for its values, the School encourages: integrity, promoting an honest and honourable environment; respect for themselves and others; commitment and service in work and studies; growth of the members of its community, believing that each individual can reach his / her full potential; excellence and personal challenges, knowing the failure is a necessary part of the path to success.

THE SCHOOL

What does it mean to be an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School?

The IB continuum of international education for students aged 3 to 19 years old is unique because of its academic and personal rigor. It aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

The IB Diploma Programme (DP): consists in an academically challenging and balanced programme of education with final examinations that prepare students, aged 16 to 19, for success at university and in life beyond. It has been designed to address the intellectual, social, emotional and physical well-being of students and gained recognition and respect from the world’s leading universities.

The program was designed in Switzerland in the 1960s to be a rigorous, internationally recognized diploma for entry into universities that students all around the world could earn.

Some Universities give credit to the students graduated with an IB Diploma, look for “[Name of College/University] IB credit policy.”

Debra Von Bargen from Stanford University answers how familiar are universities with the components of the IB Diploma Programme?
